Happy Thanksgiving Ya’ll!

I was so excited to use my serving dishes!

I hope ya’ll had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving! Mine was the best I’ve had in years! It was perfect!

This was mine and Denver’s first Thanksgiving together as a married couple! We were so excited! I come from big family and since I was married and out of Mom and Dad’s house this year… I got my first Thanksgiving food assignment! I was in charge of…. drum-roll please…. DESSERT! (They figured I can’t mess dessert up too much and  they can always run to the store for a pie.;-) ) I was super excited and had BIG plans. Those plans were kinda dashed Wednesday when I came home and felt like death… Luckily, I shoved some Vicks gel tablets down my throat and got a good nights rest! Since I still wasn’t feeling 100% the next morning, my apple crunch got shoved down the road to Christmas. But my banana pudding and chocolate chip pumpkin cookies were still a go! I had practiced my chocolate chip pumpkin cookies two times before to make sure they would be perfect! I had the steps down pat…

I was so excited to use my serving dishes!

1. dump the spice cake mix into the bowl

2.dump the chocolate chips in the bowl

3. dump the can of pumpkin puree in the bowl

4. MIX TOGETHER!!!

5. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 min…

I had perfected this by Thanksgiving… (Thanks to Sherbet Blossom for sharing this recipe! They were delish!!) Luckily I had been making banana pudding atleast three times a month for about the last 5 months… so I had no worries…

I watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade as I cooked… It was something I always dreamed of… cooking and watching Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in my very own house… lol It was really cool :-)

He was loving it!

Afterward, Gilly found his favorite thing about Thanksgiving… The Dog Show… He was fascinated! I left the TV on when we left so that he could watch the whole thing… He said it was a great show his year  lol

We went to my mom’s house for lunch and enjoyed some quality family time. It was a perfect day! The guys continued their tradition by sitting around the bon fire and the ladies continued theirs… Lots of really loud talking…:-) I got to see all my grandparents… It was very special Thanksgiving for me… I only got a few pictures and one hilarious video.  We always do something crazy and have a GREAT time when we get together! (The video is too big to upload on here.  I’ll get it uploaded else where and give a link.)

I hope yours was as special as mine! Now the count down begins to Christmas!

Love ya Bubba! Bubba lights up any room with his beautiful smile! (Bubba is his nick name)

Mema and her newest great grandchild...We've had 7 boys in a row!

Good Boy made friends with all the little boys around the house and coaxed one of them to let him inside... he decided to check out the Black Friday sales with Aunt Lynne lol!

Virginia is for lovers!

Denver’s family is from VA and we LOVE to visit! It is like going back in time… even down to the horse and buggies.

We normally spend all of our time in Bridge Water and Harrisonburg, home to many Mennonites. We always stay at the Village Inn. (They have the BEST breakfast I have ever tasted!!) We always go to the Shenandoah Market for homemade goodies, books, and antiques! It’s tradition! However, this time we decided to venture out and spend one day in Stauton VA! We love this beautiful town…

It was like looking into a different chapter in of a history book…

The railroad station in Stauton

They have the best Mexican resturant there! It is called The Bean Co. This was Denver’s dinner.

It looked like something you would see on Man vs. Food lol

Needless to say… It was HUGE!! and yummy :-) 5lbs of table weight later, we asked for a to go box!

The town was like something out of a fall movie. The leaves were still orange and yellow… There were little shops and antique stores everywhere… Everyone was very friendly.

We stumbled upon a unique camera shop that turned out to be a museum as well. We saw some VERY historical cameras. From the WWII Japanese cameras that flew over Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 to one of the cameras present at the attempted Reagan assassination.  This is a MUST see!! (I forgot to get a picture :-( )

It was love at first site!

When we go to VA we really enjoy all of he antique shops. We found some great deals and got so many unique things for the house! It was great bringing back a little piece of Virginia with us.

We both agree that if we ever live anywhere else… it will  be Virgina. We love it!

It’s been a long time…

Gilly!

Yep… it has been a very long time since I have blogged. Hopefully, I can get into the swing of things! I initially started this blog to chronicle my sewing adventures. Well…. since my sister’s high school graduation I haven’t sewed! lol Partly, because my sewing room is full of my junk from my childhood room and also because of all the mandatory overtime we’ve been working at work.

In the meantime Denver and I have been enjoying life!

We got a new furry friend, whom I wasn’t very excited about at first… but I LOVE with all my heart now… (maybe a little more than Denver ;-) jk).

Gilly!

We went on our first mini vacation just the two of us last weekend. It was fabulous! I will make a post about that later!

Oh how I wish we had a Klines... Best ice cream EVER!

VA sunsets... nothing like'em

We are getting ready to spend our first Thanksgiving and Christmas together as a married couple!!! We are so excited!!
