Dog, Human, Cat? GILLY!

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

Many of you have met my cat Gilly… He’s not the normal cat…

Gilly!

We have come home to an empty container of chocolate chip cookies

He likes to eat salad, cheez-its, and Hershey’s kisses

He also likes Ann Taylor…

So much so that last week he used the bathroom on two of my sweaters… He looks so sweet right?

He also only goes to the bathroom when you go and will cry if his litter box is not the way he wants it… He really wants to use the toilet… but we haven’t gotten that far.

His skill set includes opening closed doors.

His favorite thing to do is take a bath. Nope, I’m not talking about a cat bath… I’m talking about a tub full of water bath.

He has fallen into the tub WITH me in it twice…  After we get out of the shower or from soaking in the tub we can bet money that Gilly will jump in.

(It’s hard to see but there is water in the bottom of the bath tub.)

Some days I think he thinks he’s a dog… Some of his canine traits are dragging his favorite toy from Denver (in his office) to me (in my upstairs sewing room) until one of us caves in and plays. He also loves to play fetch… A cat that fetches? Yep… I KNOW! IT’S WEIRD!

Then other days I think he thinks he’s a human… but on days when I find him HANGING from the towel rack ripping it out of the dry wall… I realize he has to have some cat in him or maybe monkey?!

I  need some cat therapy. Let me know if you have any suggestions! lol

Here is another bowtie! This was for my cute little cousin!

Where did Spring go? and The pictures I promised!

SPRING COME BACK! I know you guys up north are telling me to shut up… but you know what? I live in the south because I want to be warm! If I wanted to be cold I would have moved up north! Right now my toes are purple and numb! I really miss the spring weather! To warm us up I made our favorite spaghetti, which we will be eating for days! We love veggies at our house and TRY to eat them as much as possible… However, unless french fries count… we definitely miss our daily serving EVERYDAY.

Anyways, here are the ingredients to our favorite spaghetti:

  • 1 pound of ground turkey
  • 3 chopped squash
  • 3 chopped zucchini
  • 1 egg plant
  • 1/4 chopped onion
  • garlic
  • salt and pepper
  • tomato sauce (I like Ragu because that’s what I raised on :-) )
  • 2 cans of diced tomatoes
  • noodles of your choosing (I really like penne or bow tie because they hold the sauce!)

  1. On medium to high heat brown the turkey with the chopped onion, salt and pepper, and garlic.
  2. Throw in the squash, zucchini, and eggplant! Cook until tender.
  3. Put in the diced tomatoes and your favorite yummy tomato sauce!
  4. Turn the heat down to low and let it simmer for about 15-30minutes. Then add in your noodles! (The starch in the noodles and noodle water will thicken it up some.) It is really yummy! We love it and it is way better the next day! We sometimes add some cheese and a little green onion for crunch!

Note: I don’t really know what I’m doing in the kitchen… so, if you burn down the house in the process of trying this recipe… Make sure you have someone there with a water hose and don’t blame me!! :-)

If you eat it for a couple of days and get tired of it… throw the left overs into a casserole dish with some cheese at 350 degrees until the cheese it melted on top… and wala! You have a casserole… I’ve done this before too! See:

yum!

On another note!

I promised I would have pictures up of the dress I made… The quality is not great because it was taken with my phone but here ya go!

It is missing the sash for now, but it will be making an appearance Saturday at the Carolina Cup. I’ll post another picture with the sash later!

Here is one of the last bow ties I made for my handsome cousin!

Coming soon!

I finished a halter seersucker/eyelet dress tonight and I’m working on some bow ties! I was going to share a picture from my phone but its so blurry it’s not worth it! So, pictures to come soon!

In other news…

I’ve been married for almost a year and I dyed my hair dark! wohoo! I’m still getting used to the dark brown vs the blonde… My husband says that I’m smarter now! Hopefully he’s right!

But anyway, I’ll leave you with one of my favorite songs and the song our bridal party entered to at our reception! :-)

It’s been way too long!

Hey guys! Once again, its been a while! I’ve been pretty busy with some things.I’ve been working on my sister’s dress which is looking pretty good! (She likes it… that’s all that matters right? lol) It has been great getting my sewing room back in order and functional! I’ll be sure to let you guys see the finished product! That should be sometime next week :-) I’ve been working on it over time so that I don’t feel overwhelmed and enjoy making it. It’s been tons of fun :-)

That’s not the only thing I’ve been up to! Besides work, my husband and I are apart of a church plant in our town. We just got started a few weeks ago. God is really doing amazing things there and in our lives right now. We felt like God was calling us to be apart of this and we are so excited to see him work in our community. We cannot wait to see what his plans are this church!!

A couple of weeks ago we went to a church leadership conference called Unleash. It was AWESOME! Thanks to New Spring Church for hosting us! You guys truly demonstrate what the church should be. Here is a recap of Unleash:

It was awesome to spend time in worship and get some advice fromPastor P. We were recharged and revived! We cannot wait to bring the living water and bread of life to Kershaw County. We learned so much and can’t wait to go back!

In the mean time, I have been working on a plan for our children and youth ministry (infant to 12th grade). I am so excited to finally be able to use that degree I earned! lol I look forward to bringing the Bible to life for our k-5th graders. We are going to be using live acting for them and I am SOOOOO excited!!! I think it will really get their attention and make it interesting. It’s going to be awesome! We are also working on our youth ministry and I can’t wait to share those details with you! God is doing great things!

Our pastor is currently doing a series called Fan or Follower… He’s on fire for God and teaches on a level everyone can understand. Last week we had some new faces and many responses to the message. God is awesome! We would love to have you join us this Sunday! Our website is still a work in progress but this gives you an idea s to what we’re about! Go here to check us out! We would love to have you join us! We don’t care who you are, where you’re from, what you’ve done, what you’re wearing, etc. Come as you are! You are welcome to join us anytime! New Hope Church

I know this was kinda long but I just thought I’d catch you up on where I’ve been :-) Hopefully I won’t be gone that long again!

Hello!

Wow! I know it has been over 3 weeks since I’ve posted… pretty sad I know. I really don’t have a good excuse! sorry! The weather has been perfect and I’ve had serious spring fever! Therefore, I started cleaning! I even got my sewing room back in working order!! I am so excited! I would show a before and after picture but you would die… I can’t wait to get in there and sew again. The first project on my list is a dress for my sister to wear to the Cup! I’ll let you know how it turns out!

Oh yea! I crocheted my first scarf! It isn’t exactly even all the way down… but I did it! I’m so excited! My aunt says the next step is to crochet a blanket! woo hoo!
