About
I am a senior at the University of South Carolina. I mainly made this blog to document my sewing adventures. I actually stumbled into sewing after graduating high school. My Mema had taught me at a young age how to hand sew. In high school I pulled out her old sewing machine a few times and played, but never had the time to immerse myself into it. Softball was my life and became a sense of identity.
When I graduated high school and decided not to play softball in college I felt lost. I had to find myself all over again. With the guidance of my Lord and Savior I set out. During college I took a few art classes that went along with my major and loved them! I found my love of painting which, I’m not very good at. However, it helped me relax and get my mind off of school when needed. My junior year I fell into sewing.
My Great Aunt and mentor is an AMAZING seamstress and a jack of all trades. I walked into her house one day close to Christmas and saw all her fabric. I knew then I had to get into sewing. I started out on simple basic aprons. I decided that I would give them away as Christmas gifts that year. I went and bought a TON of Christmas fabric and the next day headed to my aunt’s house. Since I did not have a sewing machine she let me use hers. That day I sewed from 10 that morning to 12 that night. That day I made 12 aprons and fell in love with sewing. My boyfriend of seven and a half years (I know that’s a LONG time. lol) mom bought me one of the best gifts I have ever gotten that Christmas. I got my very own Brother sewing machine. Since then I haven’t stopped sewing.
Recently I decided to blog my sewing adventures. I want to be able to watch how my skills change and develop with each piece I make. Sewing is the place I go to get away from it all and can just be me. I decided to give my sewing adventures a name. Most of you know me by Sam or Samantha. However, my family calls me Flossy. It is a name my Papa gave me when I was born. It is a name I wear with pride and one that always reminds me of my Papa.
Now that you know about me, check out my blog! Happy sewing!
