Coming soon!

hannah2

I finished a halter seersucker/eyelet dress tonight and I’m working on some bow ties! I was going to share a picture from my phone but its so blurry it’s not worth it! So, pictures to come soon!

In other news…

I’ve been married for almost a year and I dyed my hair dark! wohoo! I’m still getting used to the dark brown vs the blonde… My husband says that I’m smarter now! Hopefully he’s right!

But anyway, I’ll leave you with one of my favorite songs and the song our bridal party entered to at our reception! :-)

It’s been way too long!

Hey guys! Once again, its been a while! I’ve been pretty busy with some things.I’ve been working on my sister’s dress which is looking pretty good! (She likes it… that’s all that matters right? lol) It has been great getting my sewing room back in order and functional! I’ll be sure to let you guys see the finished product! That should be sometime next week :-) I’ve been working on it over time so that I don’t feel overwhelmed and enjoy making it. It’s been tons of fun :-)

That’s not the only thing I’ve been up to! Besides work, my husband and I are apart of a church plant in our town. We just got started a few weeks ago. God is really doing amazing things there and in our lives right now. We felt like God was calling us to be apart of this and we are so excited to see him work in our community. We cannot wait to see what his plans are this church!!

A couple of weeks ago we went to a church leadership conference called Unleash. It was AWESOME! Thanks to New Spring Church for hosting us! You guys truly demonstrate what the church should be. Here is a recap of Unleash:

It was awesome to spend time in worship and get some advice fromPastor P. We were recharged and revived! We cannot wait to bring the living water and bread of life to Kershaw County. We learned so much and can’t wait to go back!

In the mean time, I have been working on a plan for our children and youth ministry (infant to 12th grade). I am so excited to finally be able to use that degree I earned! lol I look forward to bringing the Bible to life for our k-5th graders. We are going to be using live acting for them and I am SOOOOO excited!!! I think it will really get their attention and make it interesting. It’s going to be awesome! We are also working on our youth ministry and I can’t wait to share those details with you! God is doing great things!

Our pastor is currently doing a series called Fan or Follower… He’s on fire for God and teaches on a level everyone can understand. Last week we had some new faces and many responses to the message. God is awesome! We would love to have you join us this Sunday! Our website is still a work in progress but this gives you an idea s to what we’re about! Go here to check us out! We would love to have you join us! We don’t care who you are, where you’re from, what you’ve done, what you’re wearing, etc. Come as you are! You are welcome to join us anytime! New Hope Church

I know this was kinda long but I just thought I’d catch you up on where I’ve been :-) Hopefully I won’t be gone that long again!

Hello!

crochet

Wow! I know it has been over 3 weeks since I’ve posted… pretty sad I know. I really don’t have a good excuse! sorry! The weather has been perfect and I’ve had serious spring fever! Therefore, I started cleaning! I even got my sewing room back in working order!! I am so excited! I would show a before and after picture but you would die… I can’t wait to get in there and sew again. The first project on my list is a dress for my sister to wear to the Cup! I’ll let you know how it turns out!

Oh yea! I crocheted my first scarf! It isn’t exactly even all the way down… but I did it! I’m so excited! My aunt says the next step is to crochet a blanket! woo hoo!

Do you feel stuck in life?

bubblehead_stuck

Hey ya’ll! I know this blog is supposed to be about crafting and sewing but in my about me section I told ya I would throw in some info about life as well. :-)

I have a question for you… do you feel stuck in life? Like you don’t know where to turn… everything is going wrong??

Kinda like when you were a kid and got your head stuck in the stair spindles? You know you’ve done it! (In the south its more like the deck rails, but you know what I mean!)

And in some cases the firefighters had to come and save you! lol

Well, I’m sure we’ve all felt that way at some point or another in life… and if you haven’t, you probably will someday. :-) I know I have. Just through facebook I can see that people feel stuck in life. Times are tough! People are trying to just make ends meet!

We’re trying to make plans for our future… our family’s future… We have our own ideas as to what we want our future to be but we forget to include one person… God… We think  “well this is what I want, so, this must be what God wants for me…” Boy, can I tell you from personal experience… wrong idea!

Trust me, I know. When I was in high school I just knew I was going to college to play ball! I KNEW it. I was a pitcher. At the end of one season I had an .89 ERA, a great batting average, a scout calling me , and a college calling thinking I was eligible to play the next season… no sir, I still have two years of high school left lol… I just KNEW it. It was MY plan.

But, you know what? It wasn’t God’s plan for me… It was MY plan. He kept knocking at my door until I listened… Junior year and summer… I played horrible and everywhere I turned God was saying “NO… NO… NO.” I finally realized it wasn’t his plan.

The thing is sometimes we have a plan for our lives that isn’t God’s plan. I already found this out the hard way. If you are a follower of Christ, it will eat you up until you realize it.

And if you’re not a follower of Christ… you should be. Why? Because it is GREAT! He died on the cross so that we can be forgiven for our sins and oneday… will be able to spend eternity with him in Heaven. HE will change your LIFE FOREVER.

The reason I’m sharing this is because I’ve been spending some time with God recently and this is what he has laid on my heart. If you feel like you have no where to turn. I want to tell you, you can turn to God. He will listen and if you follow HIS plan for you… suddenly the big problems won’t seem so big!

I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. Philipians 14:3

I think this is the first step to feeling UNSTUCK… we have to start following God’s plan for us. He is the firefighter there to get your head from between the stair spindles!

This past week I’ve been listening to some different podcasts. I ran across a series by Perry Noble, of Newspring Church, called “STUCK.” I listened to this series and I must tell you… it rocked my world. If you feel stuck… you HAVE to listen to this series. HAVE TO. I promise… it will change you. Just go and add it to your ipod and listen to it while you are working out, riding to work, working on homework, cooking dinner, getting pumped for a big game!

Here is a link to the podcasts. Click on the Audio section next to STUCK. Or you can watch the video here! I must say, if you have the time to watch the video… do. (Click on the drop down to STUCK and the video series goes from the bottom up. It tricked me! lol)

By the way, if you are from my area and don’t have a church family, we are in the beginning stages of starting a church called New HOPE Church. We would love to have you! We all need HOPE! If you are interested in joining us send me a message and I’ll give you directions!

Superbowl!

This year I was cheering for the commercials! This was our favorite superbowl commercial by FAR!

I have to say the Doritos commercials were pretty funny as well!

What were your favorites?

Artist of the week! Well… Kinda

mail.google.com

I’ve been looking for quite a while tonight for an artist to feature this week…

After an hour it dawned on me…

Nope, it was not fancy, was not a sculpture, not a painting….

Its not what you think :-)

It was drumroll please!

BEFORE!!

Carrabas’s apple thingy! (They call it Apple Crostata???)

It was so yummy… my taste buds were singing!

So beautiful… so delightful… so wonderful! lol You must try it!

AFTER! Nope... it wasn't any good :-)

After our wonderful dinner of salad and dessert we went to the fabric store… where we found this!

You can make a quilt in a day! I don’t know how anyone can make a quilt in a day! I made one and it took me atleast a week! Get your mind out of the gutter! lol

(FYI just in case you don’t sew… she is talking about sewing two pieces of cloth together wrong and having to “strip” the thread out or I guess I should say ripping out seams)

Oh yea, forgot to tell you guys! My comments section CHANGED! It is now much easier to leave a comment if you feel like it. :-)   You can now use your facebook profile to comment!

Hope ya’ll are having a great weekend! If not… go get yourself a Carrabas’s apple thingy and let me know if you want to be featured as the artist of the week!

Sloppy Joes for Supper!

394886

Yep, sloppy joes for supper… not one night… but two nights in a row! I must say… the second night was way better than the first :-) (We used ground turkey instead of ground beef… it was yummy !)

I was deprived as a kid… we never had sloppy joes for supper…

Denver kept asking me if I have heard the sloppy joe song and kept freaking out when I said no…

Tonight, we were introduced…

I love Adam Sandler lol

Oh yea… and to all the lunch ladies out there! Thank you for your hard work! I enjoyed school lunches :-) and it was the only place I ever got to eat sloppy joes!

An AMAZING Idea!

The book with some of the best journal entries!

A while back I said I wanted to showcase an artist on my blog once a week. ( I know I dropped the ball last week! SORRY!)

This one is a little different…

I  ran across The 1000 Journals Project. This project is really inspiring! Basically, they have dispersed 1000 journals all over. People write… add a sketch or picture… and then pass the journal to a friend, acquaintance…. strangers… ANYONE!

They made a book with some of the best journal entries!

The journals are used as an outlet for people to share their creativeness with one another! How neat is that!? This was written in their about overview:

Rediscover Your Creativity:

If you ask a kindergarten class how many of them are artists, they’ll all raise their hands. Ask the same question of 6th graders, and maybe one third will respond. Ask high school grads, and few will admit to it. (explained in Orbiting the Giant Hairball)

What happens to us growing up? We begin to fear criticism, and tend to keep our creativity to ourselves. Many people keep journals, of writing or sketching, but not many share them with people. (when was the last time a friend invited you to read their diary?) You will not be judged here. And you will have company. This is for you. For everyone.

This really made me think. It took me until my junior year of college to believe that I could be an artist. As a society we all base things off of what people think, but really it doesn’t matter! As long as you are creating art that you enjoy… who cares what people think!? It’s really all for your enjoyment!

I guess the whole idea of this blog post is to say… Never quit being an artist! It doesn’t matter how the work turns out as long as you are having fun! :-)

If you would like to be apart of a journal go here!

Valentines Day is JUST Around the Corner!

An 8 inch stryofoam wreath, atleast 100 cup cake papers, a glue gun, glue sticks ;-), and wide ribbon (I just bought a whole roll)

Valentines Day will be here before you know it! I have been wanting to make a Valentines Wreath for weeks! Finally… I made one. And… here’s how I made it!

I got this idea from Tatertots and Jello. Her page has some great stuff! You really need to check it out!

This wreath was so much fun to make! I sat down with my Aunt Trish and we had one of our chatting/crafting sessions that we have not had in almost a year… I love those sessions. She always brightens my day :-)

Here’s what you will need to make the wreath!

An 8 inch stryofoam wreath, atleast 100 cupcake liners, a hot glue gun, glue sticks :-) , and wide ribbon

First thing I did was wrap my wreath with the ribbon.

I started off by gluing one end and then started wrapping.

Make sure to wrap it tight!

After I wrapped the wreath with the ribbon I started adding the cupcake liners! I use a bunch of different cupcake liners for my wreath. You could use just one pattern or multiple like mine :-)

I put my glue onto the wreath. Trish put her glue onto the cupcake liners. It's whatever pleases your heart! :-)

I scruntched the liners up...

Then placed it on the glue! You have about 10 seconds to move it around some once you put it in the glue. (I know... I did it a lot! lol)

Continue to add the liners! I placed mine very close and tight...

FINALLY!

All filled up!

I decided to only cover the front of the wreath because I wanted the red ribbon to show.  You can cover the inside and outside of the wreath if you desire!

In the beginning we decided to save the large cupcake liners for last… We wanted to use them for “accessories” to jazz up our wreaths lol (They are in the clear box in the picture of all the supplies… They definitely look bigger!)

We played around with them until we decided to put two of them together and make them look like a large flower…

My finished wreath!

Trish's finished wreath! I love hers! She siad she left a little more room between her cupcake liners to look like flowers... where as mine were tight together and looked more like lace.

We then used straight pens (just like you would in sewing) to secure our accessories to the styrofoam.

It worked Great! We liked it because it allowed us to move the flowers around and we did not worry about permanently gluing them onto our wreaths. :-)

Lastly, we cut a piece of ribbon and secured it to the back! And… there you have it… a beautiful Valentines wreath!

I decided to not hang mine outside… it is hanging in my dining room in front of my mirror!

Trish had a surprise for me! She  made me a table runner out of this:

It has gold glitter on it! Trish said she thinks it will go great with my gold mirror! I think so too :-)

I can’t wait to finish decorating my table!!

I have to say there is nothing better than sharing time and a hobby with someone you love… Oh! and guess what!? She taught me how to crochet! I may be able to cross that whole learning to knit/crochet off the New Years Resolution list!!

Sickness is in the air! Things that you MUST have!

ensure-darkChoc

Hey Ya’ll! Let me first start off by saying sorry I’ve been going MIA for days at a time… and sorry that I have not been posting many pictures or interesting blogs… Sickness has hit our house hard…  It’s been going straight to work and then straight home for me…

It’s that time of year… flu, colds, pneumonia, the crud… all of it. I figured you guys are probably going through the same thing… so, here are the things that have helped our household make it thus far!
Everyone really needs one of these puppies!

This has really helped us out! With the heat running non-stop, the air is sooooo dry. It really makes a difference!
Plus, you can add some of this!

and your head will just open right up! It’s awesome! (If you have children check and make sure it’s safe… I see where some of them have age limits.)

BUT whatever you do… do NOT set the bottle down on your furniture!!!!!!! I saw it sitting on the hub’s nightstand and said you better not put that on there! He lifted it up and his eyes were as big as baseballs…

Well, I guess atleast he had it where we could cover it up with the lamp!  (If you know of an easy fix… please let me know :-) )

The next thing… My mom says it’s for old people… but I think it’s great!
Yep, ENSURE! It taste so yummy and is full of so many vitamins… but full of so many calories and will definatley make you gain weight… Oh well… I say this is a good time to drink them! Gotta get your energy back AND on a side note… I talked my mom into thinking they are no longer for old people… but for ALL people!
To got along with that Ensure you need some fresh fruit and veggies! I’m not doing the best at this but… I’m trying :-)

And my husband swears by this stuff!!
He says it always works and he has made other people believers… go figure…
Last but not least!!!! You must have humor!

It really speeds up the healing process! :-) Leave a comment and let me know any tricks you have to staying well! We could really use them! Hope ya’ll stay well!!

Oh yea! Don’t forget the hand sanitizer! :-)
